nice to bring a old one back up!! shot my first left and right woodcock yesterday. The young lab flushed 3 in the one spot together. Nailed the first two and the 3rd was a little out of range but managed a poke shot! 2 out ot 3 isnt bad!!

The first time I ever shot at snipe I got a left end right, haven't done it since though.

I've had a good few at mallard, pheasants and pigeons.

I shot 5 wigeon in the space of about a minute with my last 5 cartridges a couple of years ago, was quite pleased with that.

Best sofar was a "double double" twice.three years ago in Hungary with a semi auto.
Four cock pheasents , came out of a thicket all in line..four shots ,four seconds

The same situation the following year with a pump, same location, same result in abit slower time of six seconds.:p

I've got the left and right with pheasant, duck, snipe, rabbit, pigeon but the chance to get it with woodcock has never come along for me. Well done to those who have. Can ye still apply to the Shooting Times for the badge?

If you shot them without removing the gun from your shoulder & there were two witnesses you can apply to become a member of the Shooting Times Woodcock Club.

At least you're getting out, not long left in the season time to make the most of it. I'll be down at the pond tomorrow evening, hope to get a few nice Mallard for the freezer.

It's given a right squally, sleety, windy day for tomorrow. I'm hoping if clears a bit during the late afternoon, either way I'm going shooting:)

Sure what else would you be doing besides sitting in bed being warm. Much rather go outside in the cold windy rainy weather and try shoot something :)
I may head out and try for a snipe or two. There's literally only one field they're in and usually same spot an I've only managed one this season
