Just received a quote for €655 from liberty insurance! Pretty shocked. I've had my own insurance policy for the last 9 years with the said company. Therefore, I've 9 years no claims bonus. I'm 26 years old, driving a 1.6 focus valued at 3k. Does anyone know how I could get this down or any other insurance companies for that matter? It's only third party too...

I received the renewal letter from my insurance and it went from 470 to 616!
And named driver, no claim bonus 6+ etc
So yesterday I started calling different insurances and got a quote for 357 euro!
Try maybe to shop around a bit?

Hi - you don't have a no claims bonus - you are only named so named driving experience. Sounds about average - Who's name is the insurance in? I'm assuming a parent. So it's their bonus. Also the way you talk about the car - I assume it's registered in their name also?

Go talk to a good Insurance Broker, preferably one who specialises in handling large volumes of Motor Insurance.

Sorry but I've my own insurance policy for the last 9 years! The car is my own and I do have a no claims bonus. My mistake, sorry. The quote is from liberty.

I'm driving under my own policy since 2004, have fully comp since 2006 & have a 6 years no claims bonus, I drive a 2005 Corolla 1.4 D4D. I go online and fill in the forms on each companies website every year and see who gives me the best quote. I was with FBD for the last 2 years & last year it was €490 fully comp, this year they quoted me something around €650. After 2 or 3 hours of filling in forms I got a quote from Aviva for €350, which included an online discount and a discount because there is another car at the address insured to Aviva. I called back FBD to cancel & they said that they would see could they match it, I told them not to bother as if they could give me a much cheaper quote they should have done it in the original quote instead of being greedy.

My advise is to check out Aviva, Allianz, Axa, AA, FBD, One Direct, AIG, 123, Nononsense. At least one of these should give you a much better deal.

Don't know what post you were reading. I read 9yrs NCB.

OP, you should be 350 or thereabouts. Try FBD.

I'd generally find it much quicker to ring them, also easier to bargain with them at the time they give you the initial quote.

I think it's common sense at this stage but for almost any form of insurance it's best to shop around as prices for the same/similiar product can vary wildly.

It was edited from original post - OP said he was named for 9 years.

I finished the ring around exercise this week. Liberty was one of the worst on price for me at €532, worst last year as well. Picked up a better policy with AIG for €378. Most of the others were quoting in the €400 - 460 range. Annoyingly that's still up from €312 last year with nothing having changed (my renewal was up over €100).

Cheers, was late to the party so missed that. A strange edit though:confused:

Myself and liberty insurance parted ways this morning after a 9 year relationship. I called trying to get a cheaper price and as she was going through my policy, she asked me if I was still a student to which I replied no. Therefore as a result, the policy increased from €655 to €974!! Absolutely disgraceful. Have tried a few others and the best quote I can get is €648

I've got quotes from all the above mentioned companies.

    Avia - 668
    123 - 741
    Axa - 675
    FBD - 648
    No nonsense - 658
    One direct - 900
Aig - 672 but will reduce to 519 if I install a smart app to log my journeys, tbh I don't want to commit to this as I've no patience for that malarkey.

I've 2 penalty points but didn't think that would put the policy up, looks like I may fork out the 648

This is only for third party, fire and theft!

Move it back please. If you read my post then you would realise the liberty scum were charging me the most. Please don't do that again without seeking permission.

The Liberty Insurance reps would know about the bits bolded from your OP which is why it was moved. If you wish to discuss further, please use PM rather than drag the post off-topic.
