Just wondering does anyone have an idea of the waiting times for sleep apnea testing? I mean through the public system in Dublin, not privately.

I don't have health insurance, but am wondering if it's better to pay for a private clinic and save time.

Hi there, just seeing this now.

I was looking at the option of getting checked either privately or through the public system recently.

For a public appointment I was quoted about a 1 year waiting list so decided to go private. I was seen within 1 week and now 2 weeks later I am booked into the sleep clinic in Vincent's.

It a bit costly at approx. €3590 for both the initial consultation and clinic due to the excess on my VHI but I think it's worth it. better to be seen sooner than later in my opinion.

Anyway, I hope you have moved things on and are getting to the bottom of any issues you might have.

That's very expensive. I got my sleep test done privately in the Bons Secour in Glasnevin. IIRC, it cost around €1,000 - it was on health insurance. Follow up visits to the consultant were €100 each.

I know of some people who had the test performed at home, but that wasn't an option with the Bons.

A year is a ridiculous waiting time.

it took me 1 year in one public hospital and approx. 5 months in a different public hospital. A positive result from a sleep study allows a dr. to prescribe cpap treatment.i was quoted a crazy price going private.( in one hospital.)
