Scrap yards will charge you for disposing of a vehicle, that could be on top of any towing charges.

They have to drain out the petrol and oil and dispose of it properly, plus whatever other environmental rules apply to them.

We recently had a clear out at home as we were moving house and brought a transit van load of scrap metal to a local place that just deals in it and got 140 euro a ton iirc. But this was like pieces of steel, gates, beams all that kind of stuff. I don't know how it works for cars.

I scrapped a fiesta recently and got 130 for it from Leon recycling in Wicklow. They come and pick it up and hand you a check, easy peasy.
That is of course if your talking about a scrap car and not just a load of metal.

Prices have fallen dramatically for scrap cars in last two months you are looking at 90 a ton now

Are we talking about a car or just metal bits?

Yep, the slow down in China has hurt prices.

Scrap goes up and down everyday. Todays rate is from £80 to £130 for general scrap metal.
