It's known as global opening/closing and featured on many cars these days. On my old Passat CC I think you were able to switch it off/on via the on board computer menu but really depends on the model I guess.

Because a fault can develop with the Locks whereby you lock the car with the key and walk off, a few seconds after you leave all the windows open and you come back to a rain soaked car the next morning with hobos sleeping in it.

Instructions on enabling/disabling comfort window operation - http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5010762-DIY-VCDS-(Vag-Com)-for-Beginners&p=67368973&viewfull=1#post67368973

Anyone with VCDS should be able to do this for you.

It really is mad that VAG's still after all these years have the same issues.

I had a Seat Cordoba with window regulator problems
I had a VW Passat with central locking problems
My missus has a Polo currently with central locking problems. Back doors randomly working. I got my local mechanic to remove the actuators which solves the problem on the cheap before we get rid of the car. Was time to sell anyway.

Personally I'd never by another VAG again. Great engines and alright looking cars but too many annoying little issues. And whats more annoying is the know well that theres an issue but know they can charge to fix said issues in their dealerships.

I've had 3 Mazda's now and have had absolutely no issues. My folks and missus's folks have driven Toyotas for years with no issues.

What's even madder is that this tread isn't about any VAG problems :)

Happened me once where boot was open in the morning.
Just changed the habit of keeping keys in my pocket at home and no issues since.
I could disable it but I quite like the feature.

VAG, VW Audi Group.... so not about a VAG problem?

Its a problem with a VW and one of their well known common problems.

    It's a feature. Its not a malfunction.

Begs the question as to why a lot more of these settings can't be adjusted from the onboard computer - especially on/off ones like these.

Is it a ploy for service centres to make money?

No it's a question asking if a well known and shared feature across many brands can be disabled at the users request.

VW windows opening automatically (how can it be removed)

My apologies I read it as an issue as apposed to "feature".

The title does make it sound like the very common window regulator issue.

    No it doesn't lol

Anyway OP i can't fathom as to why you'd want it removed but if you are based in Kildare i can do it for you no problems. You can disable it to work with the key fob but still eave it working with the key (in the lock)
