What condition is the M1 helmet in, underneath the cover? Also, can you tell me what the stamp number says on the helmet band (not the sweatband) please. I'd like to know its era of general issue. You should find it it at the back somewhere.

I was curious about this myself and had a look for the stamped numbers but I can't see any I'm guessing they got painted over at some stage...The helmet under the cover is in brilliant condition, its the sandpaper affect surface on it.. If you want a specific area photographed just ask, thanks.

Cheers. You'll find two stamps; one on the inside of the sweatband strap. And there should be one behind that again on the internal head-strapping or the liner inner surface (can't remember which).

An example of the sweatband strap is as follows:

Hey I took some pictures for you.. Of the liner and the camo cover maker and the bare outer helmet itself

Sweatband is '77 issue at any rate. I'd assume the helmet is somewherea round the same although sweatbands are easily swapped out - and designed to be replaced anyway.

I'll need to see about whether or not someone can arrange for pickup if I go for the helmet (I'm in the UK). Are you able to meet in Dublin city centre during the week at all?

Yeah I can meet in Dublin city no problem. There is some info printed on the cloth cover if you can make it out? My camera is muck lol. The camo cover reads : Soc f/t blind inc . The metal part I still cant see any date stamped into it...I guess it got painted over at some stage, maybe factory refitted?
