Crack in kitchen ceiling

I just noticed a crack in my kitchen ceiling close to where the wall /ceiling meet. It's about 12 inches long. Above the kitchen is a spare bedroom rarely used and the house itself is about 5 years old.

Is this something I should be worried about or is this a diy polyafill job?

As you said, fill and paint. I'd be inclined to use caulk as it's flexible, smooth it out and paint when dry.

The key with caulking ceiling cracks is to get as much caulk into the crack as possible,
I used the caulking method shown here. I lightly rub over caulked crack with a damp cloth to remove the little residue at each side.
Let it dry and paint over.

So I have gone around my house and found a number of vertical cracks under the corners of window sills and above window and door opening corners. There is also a small hairline vertical crack in the middle of the chimney breast... Are these normal shrinkage /settlement cracks.

There is no cracks on the exterior of the house.
Also all the walls with cracks have plaster board construction on the inside

They're most likely hairline cracks in the plaster. Action as above.

This is normal settling and aging. Every house will suffer from cracks from weight, heat, damp etc.

Looks like your house is falling down :(

Only joking, you see these in nearly every house. Shouldn't be anything to worry about other than having to fill them now and again.

Yep absolutely nothing remotely to worry about there. All standard cracks in the typical places.
