It's not an exact science as each company pays differently but I'd say low to mid 20's would be the going rate. I wouldn't be expecting much more.

The average for that sort of position would be around €23K also some places offer trainees a bonus scheme and some don't.

I think its a bit strange to have been offered a position without any mention of pay. Have they asked about pay or received a written offer.

Which SuperValu was it ? I'd love a career as a manager or supervisor but only have sales assistant retail experience. And most trainee manager jobs require 2 plus yrs as a supervisory/management position. Anyone know how I go about this?
Thinking of doing a part-time (one night a week) course in Business Management. Would that help me with employment?

A business management course is going to help.

If your working in retail now as a sales assistant have you talked to your employer and told them that you would be interested in Supervisor & management responsibilities?

That would give you experience and a look at management.

It's all depends on his negotiation skills and experience in retail, they would give him a low offer first to feel him out and see would he take it..

I was a trainee manager for centra once salary was €26,000 at the time
Another store I was on €24,000.

The lowest iv seen online is a shocking €20,000
