Oil to Gas conversion

I stuck this up on the prices/costs forum but got no reply so thought I might get an answer here. Currently using oil for heating and want to go to gas. Was on to Bord Gais so no hassle on getting the gas to the house for the 250 connection fee, that aside would anyone know the rough cost for the following:

    · New Combi Gas Boiler (Worcester type brand)

    · Piping required for boiler and any other necessary pipes

    · Removal of Oil boiler and any old pumps/pipes

    · Powerflush etc

    Basically a standard conversion

    Then depending on costs:

    · Removing current hot water tank from hotpress and getting a new HWT in either Attic or Downstairs (assume this option would require pumps)

For some general info it’s a 3 Bed Semi Detached.
There are 7 radiators: Sitting Room, Kitchen, Hall, 3 Bedrooms and a Towel Radiator in the bathroom.
    Electric shower in the bathroom.

Has anyone got anything similar done orcarried out a similar job for a customer?

Why do you want to convert from oil to gas?

Cause it's cheaper, gas boilers can modulate, and you can steal natural gas

Hi Dtp1979, it can be (generally is), they do but I don't get the third part?

If you've oil it can be stolen from your tank. An advantage with gas is that you can't have it stolen on you.

The current oil boiler in ancient, so that has to be replaced which will have a cost regardless. Just think the gas is more efficient so want to price the conversion? Im sure its a standard enough request so was hoping someone had a rough idea. One that doesn't involve stealing anything?

You are missing an 't above which makes a big difference in the message.

    Stealing anything?
A basic gas boiler install will start at 2k upwards. If your changing to a combi, installing a pump and new pipework you can expect to double the 2k

Ok Dtp, now it makes sense, but you wrote "and you can steal natural gas", hence my confusion. The reason I asked about their reasons was because a cost benefit analysis is not always done in deciding to convert. If you can't stand the "smell" of oil convert away but if you are changing a 3 year old condensing oil boiler to save money in a relatively small house it may not make sense at this point.

It was mentioned in the above posts and its not something I plan on, if its even possible to steal gas? But you reckon 2k for the install and 4k in total including moving the HWT and any pumps required for such, or 4k for just the conversion and anything required for that?

Please forget all mention of stealing - just wrong message due to typo - read back posts.

Indeed, cant steal the gas but can steal oil. Got it. Never thought of locking the oil tank, might now..
If anyone has any more input into prices its appreciated.

    My bad on the typo.
Basically and approx 2k for standard a rated condensing boiler install
4k for install of combi including water pump and pipeworks

Ok so in and around 4k would be the rough cost for the switch, cheers.

About 4000-5000 k there is a bit of work involved in installing a combi i find people who do research on getting one installed read stuff from uk sites where combis are very common and good mains pressure but in Ireland you need a pump ect.i fit viessmann combis i think they are the best on the market
