Sheep Lice

Hey I have a problem with sheep lice. I have tried spot on, ivomec for sheep and cattle and some other pour on from cattle lice. Nothing has worked so far.

About 25 have it in total, separate from main flock. I have no dipping trough, neighboring farmers won't let me use their one. Other people have told me dipping showers are useless as mine have so much wool.

It's definitely not mange, ticks or keds. They are scratching like mad and losing a small amount of wool. I never had them before.

So what can I do. At the moment, I'm only keeping it in check

I was in the same mess a few years ago, eventually bought a JFC dipping tank and dug a hole in the ground....never regretted it.
BTW, The tank was expensive, but not near as expensive as all the product that didn't work. The precast dipping tank probably would be cheaper but mine happened during the celtic tiger and concrete cos didn't want to talk to farmers.
I showered the twice four weeks apart.it didn't work either

Thanks Rangler 1, at the moment funds won't stretch that far. I think it's more biting lice as the Ivomec and Spot On will kill sucking lice but not biting lice.

    What about Spotinor

Can't see why your neighbour wouldn't let you use his bath, but it would cost you a bit to fill it...plenty of farmers use ours

Theres a couple of guys out with plunger mobile dippers rather than showers, depending on where you are might be worth looking for one of them. Example below

In the end I went with Spotinol for the ewes. I treated the ewes before with Spot On and it killed all the lice halfway down their backs. So I used the Spotinol on the rest of their backs and behind. Seems to be working.

I took 5 lambs away from the bunch and put dip down their backs with a watering can and the lice are all dead on them.

I might do the ewes in about 2 weeks with the watering can. I moved them to a new field so hopefully under control :D
