Volume issue

I'm having issues with the volume on my tv when viewing satellite stations. It is connected to the tv with a hdmi cable (basic type and not overly long). When watching dvds (connected via a scart) the volume is much clearer. Is there an easy way to improve the sound on the satellite feed? I've read conflicting advice about upgrading to a more expensive HDMI cable.

I should have checked before posting but maybe it's possible to connect my sky (black hd box about 3 years old) to the tv with a scart cable? Thanks

I presume you have the volume set on the Skybox to maximum? Think by default it is 50%.

Thanks but I don't think this is an option with the HD+ box. Will check it later and mess around with it.
