Hi everyone, I am forming up an Epic Metal band in Dublin and I am looking for a good drummer, the genre is mainly quite unique, some of our musical influences are early Helloween, Blind Guardian, Iron Maiden, Symphony X aswell, so we are kind of doing an Heavy/Epic Metal with progressive elements, we are still looking for good members to play with, and we will be writing our own songs, some covers at first just to see how the members get along. If anyone here is interested please send me an email :)

Sounds more like power metal, with those influences. I've never even heard of "epic" metal. Unless you're going to be forcing the band into sustained and repeated journeys of endurance... Good luck in your quest, my liege!

    lol

Take a listen to something like And Then There Was Silence or A Voice In The Dark by Blind Guardian, that is considered to be Epic Metal, or Rhapsody's Emerald Sword, there's a slight difference between Symphonic Metal and Epic Metal though, I mean, Symphonic Metal's along the lines of bands like Haggard, or maybe Epica, or something like late Rhapsody Of Fire's albums (Frozen Tears Of Angels, From Chaos To Eternity, although they're called Symphonic Power Metal, but, whatever) Epic Metal's really of Power Metal heritage, but I sometimes think every metalhead has its own opinion about which is which lol, if you take bands like Sonata Arctica or Firewind, or even Vision Divine, that's straight-off Power Metal (like Helloween more or less) get what I mean? :)

do get what you mean... After some thought I've come to the conclusion that epic metal relies on immensity of sound where power metal is centred on synth and a lot of fretwankery.

I hope you manage to find a suitable drummer. Wish I could help you out as it sounds like an amazing adventure! :p

Yeah I hope so too. I'm also looking for a singer, that's probably the hardest thing to come by
