capacitive touch pc switch problem

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a problem I'm having. I wanted to relocate the power switch on my build, and thought I'd go fancy while I was at it by using a capacitive touch momentary switch instead of a regular one. I picked up a standalone momentary switch from adafruit (unfortunately I can't post a link to it) which runs like this : ground, and 5v input which shorts to an output pin when touched. So I figured I'd just use the 5v from the live pin of the pc switch and output to the other, and an atx earth.
Problem is, when I connect it up it reads around 2.7v across the pc switch, and the momentary doesn't operate. Can anyone see what's going on here? I've been at it for days, and I sure as hell can't :(
Many thanks, and apologies for such a long post!

    Derek
