    hi folks

    just seeking some advice please

we are renovating and extending an old house (early 1900's) we will be installing solar panels/new heating/insulation etc.

are we entitled to a SEAI grant based on the square footage of the old house ? or is it the case that because we are extending we are not entitled to anything ?

    thanks

Get in contact with them , you should qualify for a grant.

You should qualify for the grant.
Its pretty common to extend a house while doing works under the SEAI BEH scheme.
The grant amounts are available here: http://www.seai.ie/Grants/Better_energy_homes/homeowner/Step_1_Decide_on_work_to_be_done/

    thanks for the replies folks.

just to clarify , the old cottage will be essentially demolished with new foundations and new walls/roof built in the previous old cottages footprint along with the new extension.

in the above circumstances am i entitled to any grant for upgrading the building ?

    thanks

That's more of a new build rather than a renovation and extension so. Technically, you wouldn't be eligible for the grant but it will cost you nothing to send SEAI an email with your plans and asking directly.

Also, you are in the realm of the new building control regs (as well as health and safety regs) so make sure you have an Assigned Certifier (and PSDP & PSCS) and all that they entail sorted out before starting work
