The Oil Filter wrench works like a charm. Best one I have ever had!

I've the Aldi version of that - rescued by 2.5 year old battery there recently - just topped up the cells with distilled water and charged it over night.

Oil filter wrench is ok but I'm now sold on the cup wrench - much easier to use and zero slippage

Yeah, charged the Caddy on it recently and regularly do the mothers car with it too.

That one won't work for me though :( I wrap an old piece of sandpaper between the filter and wrench to stop the slippage

Was looking through the Lidl website there. I'm a sticker for gadgets, so the battery and alternator tester caught my eye. But I was wondering does it do anything out tell you anything that a multimeter won't or can't

I wonder what is the charger/jumpstarter like for 49.99 like.Does it have battery desulfation function?

The battery alternator is a crude volt meter using leds to show voltage.

    Multimeter is far more capable

The interior windscreen cleaner will be bought. Will avoid trying to twist my arm/wrist into unnatural shapes trying to get into the very front of the screen!!

I've had the windscreen shield for 2 or 3 years - works fine if you can remember to fit it ever to frost begins to form. I don't think its ever been hot enough to use to keep the interior cool though :)

Are the headlight bulbs any good?

Yes, they're grand. Had them in the C5. Almost as bright as nightbreakers. Windscreen wipers are all I use too. I keep a stock of them :)

I might pick some up so and maybe a set of wipers for my 407. Not sure if they'll have the right size or not, I can't tell from their website.

Do the 407 and C5 use the same wipers by any chance?

Doesn't look like they have blades for a 407, I scanned the QR code and had a look on the Ultimate Speed website.

Anybody ever try the seat covers?

Also interested in the jump starter (http://www.lidl.ie/en/Offers.htm?action=showDetail&id=18949). My general take on Aldi/Lidl gear is it will at LEAST do you for infrequent use with a lot of stuff being good for a lot more frequent use. For €50 you probably can't go wrong with this?

Can someone explain, when would you use the €20 charger over the €50 jump starter? The €20 is for trickle charging, right? So it might take 24 hours or so to actually charge the battery enough that it will give you enough power to start the motor, but charges it in a "kinder" way?

So in the case where you're about to go somewhere and need the motor immediately, use the jump starter at the motor itself and you're done within 20 seconds and it'll charge itself then with the alternator after, in a case where you're in no rush, you can use the trickle charge and it will charge it (better?) but you will need to remove the battery and bring it inside unless your motor is parked close enough and is safe to trail the trickle charger out and leave it overnight etc?

Am I at least half right? :D

You are correct. The jump starter also seems to have the same charging function as the smaller charger so I would spend the extra few quid and have the charger/jump starter in one unit.

I picked up the charger today. Did anyone else get one? I had a brief look at the instruction manual and noticed it said something about having to permanently connected batter from the vehicle (- & + terminals) before charging it. Does this apply to giving it a jump start too I wonder? Surely it needs to be connected to get the jump to the vehicle? I've had it plugged in to charge it anyway and changed the display to battery % and it's been at 10 all day, I assume this means it's fully charged anyway..

Well I used this today to jump a van with a dead battery and it worked, but... it turns out it needs to be plugged in to work :( Damn, I thought the process was to charge up the jump charger and you could just take it to a vehicle and do a jump without needing the charger to be plugged in at all..

I've a set of the Aldi ones on my car for about a year. They're grand.

Shame they don't(and neither do Aldi) offer the wipers in a set of three with the back ones included(I think anytime I got them it was just the rubber)

same thing happened me. I'll be bringng it back its not like ive a bloody mains socket out beside the car park space, its of zero use to me.

seems a pointless enough product for fifty quid imo.

Picked up some bulbs , cigarette sockets and the oil wrench.
Cigarette adapter is big which meant i was hitting it when changing into third and fifth, had to buy the extension to sort that.
