HTC ONE M8 - Unwanted Pics in Gallery

Can anyone tell me how to prevent my HTC ONE M8 from downloading cached Internet photos into my Gallery? At least, that's where I think they are coming from. They seem to be all photos of Sports - probably from Apps that I view. There can be hundreds of them after just a few days.

Are they in a separate folder ? If so the folder has possibly un hidden itself ? Maybe check if there is an option to hide the specific folder ?

Create a new file in the folder you don't want to show in your Gallery called ".nomedia" - the phone won't scan for images within it anymore.
