Focus High Rev In Idle

Just posting in the hope someone here has had this before. Driving a 01 Focus and last few months its started going up to 3000 revs when idle. Had the IAC replaced as well as what the mechanic called throttle unit?

It went grand for a few days then started again. I disconnected the battery for 24 hours to reset ECU as that had worked for someone I know and it was nicely at 1000 revs for a while in idle but again its started back up to 2000 revs.

I'll have to leave it back into the garage but its getting on my nerves, anyone here any notions of what else could be doing it? The timing belt was replaced and it started not long after, anything there abouts that could have been maybe?

Throttle body probably needs a clean.

Not trying to be smart here but I think you should try a different garage, mechanic.

May be something as simple as an air leak.

My guess would be a vacuum leak. The tubing to the left of the IACV splits and is a common enough fault. I've crossed paths with it before :D.

Call into ford and they will order the part.

This part: note the old part had collapsed. This causes high revving by the way.
