    Hello,
My washing machine is making a terrible noise, I think it might be the bearing. Anyone had a bearing replaced? Any recommendations as to cost and who to call would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

I advise getting a Zanussi approved repair specialist to do it if you are not inclined to do it yourself.
Cost to get a guy out to do it probably in the region of €150 at least

But a new washing machine! Buy a German brand like Bosch or Siemens. They last for ages. Most modern washing machines are very water and energy efficient. Its often better to just replace an appliance than get a repair. My parents are LLs and used to buy a cheap appliances but they need constant repairs. Your best opinion is buy a better brand, that is more efficient and will last

If you can find out exactly what's causing the noise you can buy the parts cheap enough from http://www.buyspares.co.uk/ I've used them before and found them good. If it's not the bearing it could also be the shock absorber.

Not necessarily, a simple problem can sometimes be fixed very cheaply.
While it seems most motors are brushless induction types, I had one that had brushes and replaced them, it was a Candy make, very cheap solution that got the washing machine running and kept it going for years. I also replaced a solenoid water valve, again quite a cheap solution.

Edit, time and the space to keep an extra washing machine are probably things that keep people from doing this.
It really depends on what the noise is and at what part of the cycle its doing it to try help identify the cause, if is all the time it might be bearings, this may or may not be possible depending on the model you have, look your specific model up.
Ive read, certain newer drum constructions of washing machines may not be easily able (or even possible) to access the bearings, this may be due to the design or build process, I think I may have replaced some bearings and a belt had come off, something someone else may have written off as a faulty washing machine.

You really need to have a look and try determine the problem and do some research online, failing that, you might be able to scavenge it for parts or sell the parts on ebay? someone might be looking for a printed circuit board, at the prices they cost, almost definitely something that makes a repair uneconomical, but not one of the most likely failure parts and not one that makes noise as in your case.

On the other route, was in Argos, they seem to be having a sale and saw some really cheap budget replacements, I didnt know Pro Action did washing machines, think it was about €219, there may have been a model there for €189 not sure if it was a dryer or washing machine in hindsight. Definitely a Bsuh model, others I dont recal as I didnt look too long.

I still think an attempt at a repair is worthwhile, but it depends on circumstances (time/need machine for kids/your personal views if its worthwhile)
