I have just cancelled my sky subscription and need a little info.
At the moment I have the free channels using sky box without the card..

Q; Are there any systems out there I can get for a one off payment ( not to expensive ) that would give me more channels and some sports channels.

    Thanks

A saorview box will give you access to a couple of more channels. In terms of sport, if you are looking for sky/bt you will need to pay for them.

A Freesat box will give all the UK FTA channels. A box can de got for £60 or so, more for recording - Freesat+ eqiv to Sky+. You would need two connections from your LNB.

I suppose the only way to get Legitimate sports via satellite for free would be to have a Multi-LNB satellite dish - therefore you'd need a bigger dish and several LNB's - also note that the languages on many of the additional channels would NOT be English

As to what you would get,

    19.2 deg East

    Eurosport 1 (German)
    Equi8 (German)
    Sport 1 (German)

    13 deg East
    Arriadia (Arabic)
Eurosport 2 (Multi Language including English)
Eurosport 1 (Multi Language including English)
    nSport (Polish)
    Nuvolari (Italian)
    Dubai Sports 3 (English)
    Abudhabi Sport (Arabic)
    Abudhabi Sport Extra (Arabic)
    Super Tennis HD (Italian)

    9 deg East

    Real Madrid TV (Spanish)

There are plenty more satellites and probably more sports channels - i got this information from KingofSat and it is current - as to what sporting events these channels cover, youd have to do a bit of research - but these channels are ALL broadcast in the clear and are therefore legitimate and legal

Sic semper tyrannis - thus always to Tyrants
