So I'm seriously considering booking a ski holiday for me (15) and a family of six others, all adults.
I would like to go for about a week at the end of next December and I'm still a bit clueless as to what to do?
I went on directski and saw a few packages around €300 and I thought that was great but it didn't include a lift pass, is a lift pass needed if all of us would be getting lessons? (Only one of us has skied before)
I don't mind going to France/Austria all that's needed is a good bit of snow :)

You'll need ski passes. Sometimes the first half day or day will have you on a low slope that might not need a pass (happened on my first trip in Austria) and then they take you up the slopes. So you will need them.

Ski passes are often done per region or per skiing area. If you're all beginners, the passes will be cheaper, but you'll still need them.
In Chamonix, the first year we went, we got cheap enough passes as we only needed them for the beginner slopes, and there only 2 lifts there for that. Anything more than that and you'll be looking at around 150pp or more, depending on the region. We're going to the 3 Valleys again this year, and it's roughly 270 Euro for the week (6 days) for all the 3 valleys/regions, but it's a huge ski area...
You'll also need to price the skiing lessons, which are often around 200-250pp for group classes for 5 days.
    Ski/boots hire, is another 100pp.
