Hi, Quit cigarettes for New Years just wondering when cravings will go away cause I've heard off some they never do, and if anyone has any tips that they've found useful, I'm not using an electric smoke either, thanks

Nearing the end of day 4. Cravings are still here but less of them then first 3 days. I also don't feel like punching everyone I see, just maybe every third or fourth person so hopefully a sign it's getting easier. Cold turkey here as well

Try the Nicorette inhaler. My husband is using it and says it's great to keep hands busy. Pulls away on it like a normal cig. (The clob actually went to go out and smoke it in the shed the other night!)
He tried cold turkey before no joy so fingers crossed this time

I found the first week so far diabolical. Of the many previous attempts last 18 months or so I always cracked by day 2. Tried listening to some of the short hypnosis type videos on youtube this time. First two days was like a demon, still temperamental but less so today so fingers crossed.
I've not actually really given up....I just refuse to have the next one. Every one after that I can have just not that next one. That's what I have been saying since Thursday night. So fingers crossed.

Make sure you have breakfast everyday and a glass of juice every morning. Smokers often have issues regulating blood sugar when they give up and this is what often causes the mood swings apparently. Cranberry juice first thing is supposed to help.

If you have one tenner left in your wallet spend it on the allen Carr book The Easy Way to Stop Smoking. I really can't recommend it enough. I wouldn't go the nicotine replacement route at all. I think it only prolongs things. Good Luck!

Quite a few years off them here - the cravings absolutely go away, I have zero desire to smoke now. The first week is the worst, after that the physical addiction is basically gone. Just stick with it, one day at a time - you are actually over the worst of it now, well done!

I'm off since jan 2nd and this is my fourth go at it in the last 9 months. The other times I've lasted 3 weeks. I have got one of the disposable ecigs for €6 in the garage which I use now and again. For me just having it in my hand helps when cravings hit. Its meant to last for approx 40 cigs which would have been 3-4 days for me but its lasting for a week at a time which is good going. A friend of mine used lollipops when she quit and I tried this last time but I felt I was becoming addicted to them :o Hoping I make it past 3 weeks this time. Best of luck people!

They aren't and couldn't be as long as you stick with good liquids - they've had an avalanche of test results from hundreds of studies at this stage which confirm that they're about as harmful as coffee.
The closest we've had to a negative result was when one of the machines used for inhaling the vapour had it's ecig dried out and it was obviously inhaling burnt wick & charred juice - an impossible situation in real life as the taste would tip you off that you're not inhaling vapour anymore but that didn't stop the tabloid rags from having a field day with it.

I am off the cigs since 09Jan14.using an electronic device and I never felt better.

The danger with ecigs is that you are just prolonging the agony, assuming you intend to come off nicotine at some point. While initial research definitely seems to indicate they are safer then cigs themselves, they are still delivering the actual addictive element of cigs, the nicotine. But it's horses for courses I guess and if you're the type of person who can deal with longer but milder withdrawal symptoms then ecigs/nico replacement approach might be the best for you.

Best of luck all.Ecig myself and actually love it.Every Friday night myself and a few friends get together for a bash of 4 player fifa on the xbox with drinks and banter.
I was surrounded by cig smoke for 6 hours solid and survived thank god.I'd been dodging them for a few weeks because of this.
Couldn't believe the smell from my clothes as i threw them in the wash next day.
    Long may it last.:)
