I've read a pile of threads on here about double cleansing and am converted.

However, before I go and shell out on a few products I've seen here I'm wondering if I can use some I already have. I've an oil based makeup remover from Clinique (take the day off) and a facial soap, can I cleanse first with the first product, wipe it off and use the soap?

One of my ny resolutions is to take better care of my skin so I'd appreciate any responses :)

And after I finish with what I have is it ok to use almond oil to oil cleanse? I use it every night on my hands as a moisturiser and it's worked wonders on them

Nothing to add here I'm afraid except to say I'd love to know about this too, seems to be mentioned very positively on here.

I've very very dry skin so need to try something new.

When I started double cleansing I used superficialists oil for around €10 and cleanse an polish. Then I realised c&p was aggravating my skin so I bought darphin intral cleansing milk on feel unique for around €20 (it lasted 6 months) as my skin was and still is really sensitive. However you could look for any cleansing milk depending on your skin type.

You could use olive oil or almond oil for the cleansing. I think coconut oil can react with some people. Jojoba oil is supposed to be amazing for dry skin. You don't have to blow the budget buying products and a little internet research will reveal dupes for more expensive well known products.

I like the no 7 cleansing balm for the second cleanse. I usually use Payot cleansing milk or Ziaja sensistive micellar water for the first cleanse.

Personally, I think it depends on your skin type. I'm oily combination, so start with an oil cleanser like dermalogica pre cleanse and then use a good quality face wash to rinse all off, I like Murad sallylic acid wash as I can get breakouts and mostly concentrate on my t zone then rinse my whole face with tepid water.

Where do you get the acid wash?

Am on day two of this and Am gobsmacked at how much dirt comes off with the oil cleabse

They do Murad on lookfantastic.com- Murad also have an exfoliating toner with sallylic acid which is amazing if used together.

As far as I know, almond oil is more of a carrier oil rather than a cleansing oil so you would have to combine it with a more cleansing oil such as castor oil for a full effect. If you google the oil cleansing method you will get more info on ratio of the cleansing and carrier oils for your skin type. I find the dermalogica works for me but then again I use my wash after so not sure how it would work without that.

Nip and fab glycolic cleansing pads are around €13 for 60. Boots and a lot of pharmacies stock them.

I don't doubt that the dermalogica pre cleanse is good but it's expensive so I'd recommend you google cleansing oils and make your own or buy a cheaper one. Olive oil works perfectly fine for cleansing. The Una Brennan cleansing oil gets consistently good reviews.

I thought double cleansing meant cleansing twice with the same cleanser :o

I use my Nivea cleansing milk 2 times...woot!

    So did I!

I think it can mean either! But I just use the same cleanser twice, or else use a micellar water to remove make up & then a proper cleanse to fully clean my skin.

I usually use the Garnier micellar water to cleanse my face, then I take a bit of my facial wash, rub the concentrated gel onto my skin and rinse off, then I use the Garnier soothing cleanser before toning, moisturising etc.

I use Dermologica precleanse. I have used it for years and find it amazing. A few drops is all you need, rub on face, add water and wash off. Costly but lasts about 8 months. It makes easy work of removing eye make up.

I follow the preclease with Dermolgica essential cleansing lotion> Again only need a little and it lasts ages.

I use this as my toner http://www.dermalogica.ie/ir/html/products/ultracalming-mist-127.html?type=function&cat=toners

I use a NO7 day cream and Lamcome night cream. My skin is very dry and this skin care works really well for me.

I also cleanse twice with the same cleanser!

I use Clinque Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm with a muslin cloth, once in the morning and twice at night.

I double (sometimes triple) cleanse in the evening. I cleanse my skin once in the morning.

I think you can do it with the same or a different cleanser. It is up to you.

I usually take my make up of with Bioderma (Garnier Micellar Water is a great dupe) as soon as I get home, as I don't want it sitting on my face any longer. But I usually go though my proper routine right before bed which is hours after that.

I use a home made oil cleanser with emulsifier. I do like Clinique Take the Day off Balm, but my own oil works better for my sensitive skin. If I'm wearing little make up. I use the oil cleanser once, which is still double cleansing with Bioderma. But sometimes I also do another cleanse with either the oil cleanser again or a basic cream cleanser or an AHA cleanser.

I cleanse twice with Nip & Fab Deep Cleansing Fix and a hot flannel, then follow with their Glycolic Fix exfoliating pads. Great products, not too pricey and all totally free from animal testing, so ticks all the boxes for me
