Trying to view Comet Lovejoy and met with nothing but clouds rolling in. Driving me mad to be honest. Doubt I'll even get to view it over the next week.

Once in a life time opportunity missed :(

Saw it naked-eye myself tonight :) But don't give up, should still be good for the next week or so. You're bound to get one clear night.

Well done anyone who managed to catch the comet so far. I viewed it in 15x70mm binoculars from the back garden in Templeogue around 10:30pm. Some clouds scudding across the sky but there were enough clear spells to spot the comet's woolly glow. It is quite large but I did not see any sign of a tail. Might try get to a darker sky if the weather cooperates.

A good chart for finding comet Lovejoy is available at http://cometchasing.skyhound.com/

This Sky and Telescope article has some gorgeous photos too http://www.skyandtelescope.com/astronomy-news/observing-news/spot-comet-lovejoy-tonight-122920141/

    Clear skies (we hope!)

Manged to spot it twice so far, last week (with a close to full moon in the sky) and last night. Definitely brighter last night, but still not quite naked eye from where I am observing (lots of light pollution). It looks like a large fuzzy ball.

It's easy enough to spot once you get clear skies, so hopefully you'll get an hour clear at some stage.

Wish I'd spotted this thread last night. Some of the clearest skies for months in South Dublin (coldest too).

Only using my Xmas 10x50 bins but Orion Nebula was gorgeous. Andromeda clear too.

Managed to get it tonight in my 6" dob thankfully, despite the cloud.
Actually thought I had found a messier object until I referenced stellarium and saw that there was none of those about 7 degrees from Pleiades.

Really just looked like a grey fuzz. Not visible to the naked eye, in an area with low light pollution.
