Hi-I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a professional dyno facility in the south please? I would be willing to travel further around the country for the right facility. Thank you.

Having owned a bora and an S3 with the same 4 motion set up i can safely say there isn't a rolling road in the country (south at least) that can handle these, despite what people might tell you. The 4motion throws a wobbler on the rollers and the dyne won't be able to settle on a figure.

The only true way to roll them is to pull the fuse for the haldex controller, it's perfectly safe to do, i did it on the Bora many times (was probably dyno'd over 7 or 8i times) - lads have been doing it in the US for a long time, i was one of the first to do it this side of the Ocean and almost certainly the first in Ireland, you will get an ABS fault afterwards but it will disappear after a minute or two of driving.

The only problem you will have is if it's DSG, for some reason VAg in there wisdom decided to put the Haldex controller and the DSG controller on the same fuse, so if you pull the fuse the car won't start. I'm not sure if they changed this around on later cars but a quick look at the fuse card and your manual will tell you.

True on the DSG and haldex, I couldn't run a 3.2 DSG TT on 2wd rollers.

    Cool didn't know that.
Also Martin in Autoremap had a rolling road now too. www.autoremap.ie
He is organising a group dyno day currently on BMWHaus.

The car is DSG (haldex controller switch/milltek sports exhaust). I really appreciate the feedback given as I would like to know as much as I could about getting the dyno done before I get it done. Would hate to do anything that might damage the car in any way.

You may forget about getting it dyno'd in the south so, I've had dyne owners tell me the had their software updated and then watch as their dyne couldn't settle on a figure - only to be sheepishly told that i had to pull the fuse.

I've hard AI (A i ?) motorsport in Northern Ireland have a dyno that can handle haldex but i've never had it confirmed.

Nice car/set up - any future mods planned ? I had the Bora (same engine but 2.8 ) supercharged - the love Forced induction :)

I think that CIT's rolling road is 4WD. I've seen a few rally Evo's and Impreza's arriving on trailers and heard them at full chat (but never actually seen them). Dr Keith McMullin runs the rolling road so he may be willing to help.

Thanks tossy. I cannot take credit for the haldex/exhaust as they were already on the car when I bought it but I am thankful to the person who put them on the car. I got work done to the exterior of the car (respray/powder coating/exterior parts) last summer to keep it in the best condition that I can. The engine has not been modified. I am only learning about mods to the engine/performance at the moment. Once I know more about the mods that exist I may consider further mods but I know that I would not like to change the car too much from how it came out of the factory. Of course it also depends on the finances!
Thanks Ian-I will definitely look into it. I appreciate the information.

There are loads of 4wd rolling roads in the south, the problem is the way the haldex transfers the power from front to back, that confuses most of the rolling roads and vice versa the rolling roads confuse the haldex.

No problems on the advice MSE, if you need a dig out or need any VCDS coding/scanning done drop me a pm. I'd also recommend signing up to autostadt.ie
