    Hi All,

Currently we have mostly solid wooden floors in hall, sitting and dining rooms. ( these were nailed down years ago). House is 1960's so has a raised wooden floor.
Hoping to do an extension and renovation and want to have tiles mostly downstairs (new kitchen- open plan, utility, hallway and porch. Is it best practice to take up the wooden floor (hopefully we might be able to save some and reuse somewhere upstairs) and then put down cement board (i'm told this is v heavy stuff), screw this down and then tile over so it feels much more solid (so you wont even know it was a raised floor). ?
Is it so heavy that we need to reinforce the joists underneath ?

Also, is it worth putting insulation between the joists while the floor is exposed?

    Thanks
