I've had a conversation with AIB recently where they explained under the Data Protection Acts section 4 that I'm not entitled to any account information that they hold on me. They have said I am only entitled to transcripts of any conversations I've had with them over the phone. Surely this isn't correct? Can anyone advise me on this?

Under Section 1 of the forum charter I can only make very poor jokes.

You should be able to request info under the data protection acts and should also be able to get your info from the ICB. Is this an issue where they can't ID you?

No, it's not correct. Either they are messing you about or you are misunderstanding the conversation. Write them a letter as set out here and see what they come back with.

Section 4(3) would most likely be the OPs issue.

So I finally received some of my data from AIB. They left out the vast majority of what was specifically asked for, stating "We have not carried out a search for personal data contained in correspondence to or from you".
So much for the process only taking 40 days. For some reason they also sent the data to a branch that's difficult to get to and not near where I live, despite my own branch being 300 metres away from my house.
