I've strayed many times, most recently to the MAC volcanic ash exfoliator and I ALWAYS go back to the St Ives one.

It's very scrubby but I love it! :)

I use ground almonds, a good handful mixed to a paste with milk, oil or suds. Rub on briskly, finger-rubbing any particular spots. Rinse away.
There's a trace of oil IN almonds so it leaves a soft, moist condition, and a nice glow.

For body scrub, the St Ives apricot is a fine standby.

Environmental note: many commercial scrubs use plastic micro-beads which wash down in the sewers and contaminate river and sea water, which poisons fish, shellfish and birds. This is a genuine concern. Natural products are much more earth-and sea-friendly.

I only recently realised this myself and now feel very guilty. :( Do you know any brands that sell plastic free exfoliaters?

I use boots botanical face scrub. It has little grains of sand or that's what it feels like and takes away all dry skin. It's less than €7.

Just to follow up on the microbead thing, I did some digging, and found a guide to all the products which don't have microbeads. Handy to have!

I couldn't find St Ives apricot scrub for ages so I chanced getting an osiris one I kept seeing in Tesco's €1.49 aisle and I was wary about it but I haven't used anything else since. It's quite creamy so my skin feels lovely and soft afterwards. And it's a pretty big bottle so it lasts ages. My mum loves it as well.

Have you considered a chemical exfoliator? I'm using nip&fab glycolic pads. They cost around €13-15 for 60 in pharmacies/boots. They're far better for your skin than abrasive acrubs.
