    Car wouldn't start yesterday morning, battery on the frit. I need a decent one like a Varta, Yuasa or Bosch (70-80ah) as I've a diesel to start very early every Monday morning. Apart from Halfords can anyone recommend somewhere in Dublin to get one at a reasonable price, tax and insurance are also due this month. It never rains....

    I highly recommend http://batteryworld.ie. I think they do either free delivery to your house, or free fitting if you go to them. Which saved me as it turned out to be a total pain to fit my battery, would have taken me forever.

    Batteryworld = kimmage

    gerry is the man in there, helped me out loads with my electrical issues, so when i eventually needed a new batt , went there.

    80 quid for a calcium batt.

    As an aside, how much should a decent battery approx cost? (for a 3L TDI A6 in my case). I got one changed earlier in the year and it was over €150

    Halfords is the most expensive place to buy a battery, got one for the A4 recently.

    Main dealer 59euro
    Motor factors 70 euro
    Halfords 135 euro

    got one for my A4 TDI early last year from the crowd above, DS aoutpart in Ballymount.
    Even though the car is sitting up in work it still starts on first turn of the key.
