Hey, I 'm looking for inspiration here or at least a place to start looking. We have a limited budget (200k), the site is paid for, and we are looking to (self)build a 4 bed house. We like barn designs or slightly 'out there' designs, northern European designs, Passivhaus stuff. It is a rural site. Looking for any advice…

We like barn designs or slightly 'out there' designs, northern European designs, Passivhaus stuff. It is a rural site.

Looking for any advice really. Architects, websites, personal experiences, anything really. Interested in use of modern technology in the home.

Sorry if I'm too broad but I'm trying to brain storm a bit.

200k - Professional fees, planning fees, connections: 170k -vat.. Etc

Say 120m2 house: 4x12m2 bedrooms, 40m2 kitchen/ dining, 5m2 bathroom and circulation/storage

You need to be realistic

Have you secured an Assigned Certifier that will allow you to self build?
Especially considering you are looking at off standard construction and detailing.

That's a lovely job Barney. Well done. Is it about 2000 sq ft?

Thanks for the other links. I'm pretty familiar with all the google links, what I was more hoping for was - there is a cool architect in Galway or there is blog of a guy converting a barn - that kind of thing.
