Car destroyed by damp and mould

I had my car parked up for a while as I bought a new one and was waiting for an NCT so I haven't driven it since November.

I went to it today to bring it to the NCT and found that there must be a leak as the whole car is damp and covered in mould.

It's a 2004 Nissan Almere no NCT and no tax. Is it worth trying to repair or does anyone know how much I would get if I scrapped it?

Take out the old seats and carpet, get replacement from scrapyard? Assuming you can't clean off the mould? Any pics?

Maybe 200 Scrapped. If you steam clean the seats and hooever it out. Then put some dehumidifiers sitting in the car (can get gel packs from Tesco / woodies) for a few days.

You could prob sell it for 400-1200 depending on condition.

I don't have any right now but I think if I tried the mould should come off...

Carpets, seats and other linings will have to come out, very common car so finding these at scrapyards shouldn't be too difficult.

You'll also have to source where the leak is coming from and check all seals around the car. I wouldn't just chuck it as these are minor issues that won't take long to put right.

You don't have a leak, it's just the dampness in the air in the car because there was no ventilation for the last few months. Why do you think motorhome and caravan owners have heaters or dehumidifiers in them over the winter.

Clean and sell it. Loosing value all the time

All it needs is elbow grease!

Clean it thoroughly with a bleach solution and then leave the doors and windows open to let everything dry out.

My g/f left her car undriven for 6 months and we had the same problem. I did a huge clean-up and the car is perfect now.

The only thing I'd be wary of is the mould spores. Might be worth getting a mask to cover your face when you're doing the cleaning.
