I have been using one of these for the last year. Heavy but very secure.
I am an everyday bicycle commuter and leave it locked to a pole at work. So far its needed no maintenance and is exposed to all weathers.

Heavy but very secure. A little cheaper and has a thicker hardened steel shackle . Croppers would have a very hard time getting a bite on the shackle.

Sold secure gold I think also

Neither of these locks would stop a bike thief bar the opportunistic "oh look the bike is unlocked" type

Im picking up my new Giant MTB today in the Giant store and want to know if this Giant lock is a good one or should I go with a similarly priced Kryptonite evolution series 4? Both are sold secure Gold BTW.

    We all know that

Then why the hell did you ask if its a good lock when you know its shít?

Ended up buying a Magnum plus U lock from Halfords, was reduced to €40 from €56 and is a sold secure gold rated lock. Big beefy thing so I think its good enough security for a bike that cost under €500.

Because we all know no lock will stop a thief.... A good lock being defined as one that can hold out a reasonable amount of time before its broken. That's what my question was related to.

Ain't no lock going to stop a determined bike thief .

But they will make a lot of noise and sparks trying to get them opened.

And if you use two. Forgetabout it.

My brother uses the Kyropnite New york lock. . From what I read it would be considered one of the best. But its very heavy and has a small shackle.

I used it but its small size meant I had to find a small post to lock it to.

Instead of moaning , why not offer advice if you have some to share.

There are different sizes of this lock, I've got one of the larger ones and have used it for several years now. You can see them here.
