Sky On Demand Blocked?

This has most likely already been covered but my search did not return anything.

So after watching 3 seasons of a show using the On Demand box with my Sky HD box I am now blocked. The message I am getting is that I need to upgrade my sky package to continue using On Demand.

My parents are in the same boat, they are also blocked after watching 2.5 seasons of "The West Wing" and my brother is also blocked after the same.

I phoned sky and asked them what the story was and they said that I needed to upgrade to the HD package if I wanted to keep using On Demand... SCAM!!!

I questioned this as to why I was able to watch the seasons so far without HD and your agent would not answer the questions. My brother phoned and got the same answer.

Quite cheeky in my opinion but surely there is a way to reset the sky box or a way to get around this?

Mine has gone ages. Suppose it was a software update on the box?

Just to clarify you still have access to on demand. Box sets now requires hd.

Yes, you are correct. I should have been clearer.

Nope, entitlement update on your viewing card.

I got the same message at the weekend while trying to watch a box set On Demand.

"You need to upgrade your subscription to view this" or something to that effect.

But here's the thing, they've just increased the prices, starting in February, but are taking services off us, not too good is it.

The change came in at the end of last year. You did well to get it up to now. They sent out letters to let people know.

It's still €15, but they always have offers on hd. A few people have gotten half price for a year and others €10 for 2 years.

They gave it to me for €7.50 for 12 months. That was just before Christmas.

The real reason behind this is to get everyone onto The hd packages so as they can turn off the sd feeds and thus eliminate card sharing with one fell swoop.

why not give it away free so?

Not everyone has a HD channel setanta so they cant just turn it all off?

At some stage and No one knows when they will force a change through. Bt is still available in hd (I imagine they don't care about Bt or Setanta).Could be when they roll out the new cards(within the next 15 months is the general consensus on this) as the older receivers will no longer pair with them. Sky are in trouble, don't be surprised if Bt take the lions share of the premier league games at the next auction, hopefully they won't display the same level of greed.

The merger of 3 sky companies will give them extra buying power

Just saw an ad for sky re box sets. The small print seemed to say that it was available with the family pack OR HD. Did I mis-read or is that just in the UK?

Subscribe to the HD pack and you will get the box sets.

Its a new 12 month contract though unless you can talk them into giving you some sort of offer on the HD including "time limited" - i.e. 3 months or 6 months.
