Ive wanted a Lamborghini or even a replica since I was 18 and a recent inheritance might make the dream finally possible. Im a bit out of the loop on what they're going for these days though so I thought this place might be a good sounding board.

Yup, Rover V8 engine. OP, the Countach is a hippo anyway, go for a Miura Jota. ;)

    Another dodgy reg...

Jim Rock (Loughlinstown) has a beautiful Corvette for less that 18k......

In fairness its not a bad replica, remember that atrocious yoke built on the beetle chassis.

50k sooms a bit much, also if its a new build what is the chassis.

20k would be a reasonable price for something like that, unless its a spectacular example

49k for a fake car! Having a laugh

To be sure. The Miura is of course the purest Unobtanium these days and regularly commands six-figure and more prices at auction. An Urraco is a nice little '70s Lambo that looks the part and should be available in the UK for civillised money. Of the new breed of "Audi" Lambos a used Gallardo might be had for around that budget.

Note well that Lamborghini ownership is rather like being married to an Italian princess. She'll be jaw-droppingly beautiful, sheer class, indescribable when she's on-song. But pernickety, precious, unfathomable and bloody expensive to maintain! :pac::pac::pac:

Lambo shmambo.... buy a real car.

Its like the missus getting fake boobies..... some people think they're real, but u know, and you know some people know which will make you feel silly.....

OMG its sold...... but you get the drift!

    Nothing to compare it to..

Fair play to you for following up on dreams you had as a lad (if you do buy one..) :D

Crazy money for a replica - and a risky investment. Considering what €50K could get you in terms of a genuine appreciating classic. There must have been other cars on your wall growing up?!

The short version of Italian car ownership I remember: It's like being married to a beautiful woman who doesn't care whether you live or die. :P

Or, possibly alternatively, like having a 600HP, €200,000 cat. :D

How does that yoke qualify for classic tax if its a new chassis and not car based?

    Another elephant perhaps?

50k for a kit car is just mad, buy a real classic that will increase in value over the years.

Agree with this completely. A kit car depreciates faster than you can imagine.Buy a good quality classic and maintain it . You might actually make money on it

    Also concur.

if you genuinely have 50k to invest in a classic, buy the merak, or something similar, these are appreciating assets, no matter how convincing a kit car may look, at the end of the day its a beetle in a pretty frock

How do you build a kit car on a space frame yet get classic tax/insurance?

You do the same as SOME Kit Car owners in this country. Buy a car (usually in UK ) , bring it into this country, get the plates from an already registered classic and just swop the plates. That way you avoid VRT and huge rates of road tax. You then go to AXA, give them the Engine size and the reg no,and they will insure it for you , no problem!!!

This might sound like a lot of hassle but its probably why most builders do it this way.....I built one years ago but did it properly, it was a GPITA...the car had to be inspected 3 times, as i couldnt drive it legally on the road without plates, the inspector had to come to my house...it took ages and with the home visits , VRT and VAT it cost more than the original kit.....but it had a 02 ww plate..
BTW at the time i was offered a Lambo kit for £1500 with those huge wheels....maybe i should have bought it...:(

That's a convincing Countach replica effort , looks very very real from the rear and front . Current bid 13£

Know a guy who seen this by chance, not to view/buy, Renault 3.5 engine in it he was told, he wasn't at all interested in it so didn't ask any questions.

I'd much rather the Spanish or French property the seller is after as a swap :rolleyes:
