Ryanair - Can I take my laptop AND a 10Kg carry on bag these days?

I stopped flying with Ryanair a long time ago when they gave me an awful time about putting my laptop inside my carry on.
Aer Lingus never ask me to do this.
So now i hear Ryanair arent the royal pain they used to be, they are on my radar when i book my flight.

Trying to find out though, is that stupid rule about bringing my laptop still there.
Can i bring my 10Kg and my laptop too nowadays? If i cant thats a deal breaker for me.

They allow you to bring a 10k cabin baggage + an additional small bag. I'm not too sure what's the restrictions on the size of the small bag, but I have seen people using small backpacks and medium size handbags so I'd say you should be able to bring your laptop as your second piece of luggage. They don't really check these or ask you to put it into the size box placed at the gate anyway so I'd give it a try.

According to the Ryanair website, the following is allowed: One cabin bag weighing up to 10 kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm, plus 1 small bag up to 35 x 20 x 20 cms may be carried per passenger*.

Whether or not the second item is a laptop, is irrelevant. The old rule was that everything that you carried on board the plane, had to go into one bag. It wasn't a rule that was specific to laptops. Now that they allow you to carry on a second item, the size of the item is what matters, not what the item is.

If your laptop is a whopping, great, big Mac & it (or the laptop bag that you carry it in) is bigger than the size allowed, they may stop you. If it is an average size laptop, you'll probably be fine. The only way to know for sure, is to get out a tape measure & measure its dimensions.

Since they brought in the new additional bag rule, I have seen loads of people carry on really big "second" bags that were way over the size allowed. I've never seen any one of them stopped, but that isn't to say that no one ever is.

Ah I think i'll not bother with them then. The laptop is bigger than those dimensions and i really dont want any hassle should they decide to get uppety on the day.
I'll stick with Aer Lingus for now.

I'd be very surprised if you were stopped. They've stopped being so anal about sizes so once your laptop is not the size of a house you'd be fine.

You could always take some of the stuff out of the carry on baggage, put your laptop inside and bring a medium size bag with the stuff that doesn't fit into your suitcase. The last few times I flew with Ryanair my second bag was a hand bag inside of a bigger handbag with all my make up, phone, camera, small jacket and a book inside so it wasn't particularly small.

You'd have no problem bringing on a laptop in a second bag so long as you aren't taking the p!ss with the size of the bag.

I've brought my laptop back back on Ryanair and a carry on without an issue
