What is this part called ?

What is this (rusted) panel around the radiator grill on my VW Polo called and where would I get one ? Was a failing point on my NCT yesterday.

Are those interchangeable? I might be wrong but I don't think so, not without welding etc.
Don't know the name but I always called it the grille.

They just bolt in - cheap too on eBay. Just called a front panel or nose panel.

Surprised its a fail though as its not structural.

it's fail presumably as it's a danger to road users (ie a child trialing his hand across the grille whilst parked etc) Some stout tape would be the cheapest otion

Try a local car breaker. They should have one. They might even have one that same color too if you're lucky.

It still forms part of the secondary structure

The OP could just patch up the holes and it would pass, it doesn't have to be pretty.

Thanks for the advice but it's pretty brittle so I reckon I'd better get a new one

It'd be very cheap to just get the new(used ....) one. Breakers yards would be your best bet I reckon! Should be a good few of them around still.
