Hi guys, I have my NCT booked for next Tuesday but have lost my drivers license. On the website it says you must bring ID in the form of a drivers license.

Would my passport suffice in this instance?

Or should I get someone who actually has their license at the moment to come with me?

    Cheers

Passport is allowed, it did me fine both times.

I have same problem, my test is for next Fri. How did you get on O.P?

I know you could use passport before, but have been wondering have things just recently tightened up even more though? It specifically says Drivers licence and Vehicle Reg Doc required on the reminder text?

As it works out, I may need someone else to bring the car in anyway, or else reschedule. Can someone else bring a car in to be tested if it isn't registered to them?

I phoned them about this very thing shortly before Christmas, as my license was away being finagled by the NDLS. They told me then that a current passport is fine. Also, there's no problem whatsoever with someone other than the registered owner bringing a car to the test.

Appreciate that thank you! As it happens, my Passport is out of date! Might be simpler to have my Dad go with it just in case.

Yes or they can just go with you

Passport is fine - it's for official photo ID, not a licence check.

They didn't seem that fussy when I was in Deansgrange in December for someone else bringing the car, or checking documents tbh!

Definitely, just make sure whoever presents the car brings their own photo id (licence/passport) and pays the fee (if not pre-paid).

Official Photo ID, but for some incomprehensible reason, they don't wish to accept EU personal ID. Only passports or licence.
I was once in a situation when I had my licence in motortax office for exchange, and didn't have my passport as I left it in my home country, and they didn't let me test my car upon producing personal ID. Crazy.
