Hypnotherapy is not regulated in the ROI. Anyone can claim to be one. I know of at least two "hypnotists" who took a weekend introductory class and attempted to treat clients. I am sure there are many more. Thankfully, hypnosis itself is not dangerous, but there needs to be some regulation in place. The HSE don't want to know and the hypnosis schools and organisations have failed to come together on the subject, as they have their own agendas.

My advice is to do a bit of research before choosing one.

Are there any laws regulating the practice in Ireland?

Just don't try it after playing Quidditch.
