PTRB - do you need to cancel a tenancy?

This landlord business is all new to me, so bear with me please. When I go to register a new tenancy with PTRB, apart from the website blowing up on me about 10 times in the course of the evening, when I got to the end of the process it gave me this error message - "A DWELLING CAN ONLY BE LINKED TO ONE TENANCY."

I'm trying to work out what the problem is. One possibility is that the tenancy actually registered during one of the many times it crashed, but I don't think that's the case as I didn't receive any emails and nothing shows up when I log in. The other possibility is that the previous landlord tenancy is still registered and so as far as the system is concerned there's no need/requirement to register another one. Is there a concept of having to cancel or deregister a tenancy when a property is transferred to a new owner?

    Thanks for any advice,

    007
