Clothes for an "Office Admin" Interview?

    Hi guys,

Very quick question. I'm a recent business grad and am searching for a job. I got an interview for a basic "office admin" role in the tourism industry. This will be my first 'office' type job. My experience is mostly retail.

I have a nice suit which I would definitely wear to a finance job or a more corporate environment. However, a couple of people have said that they think a suit is "too professional" for a basic admin role.

Now I'm unsure and don't want to be over dressed.

The interview is also on a Saturday so maybe a suit is a little much for a weekend too?

Plus, there'll likely be rain on the day and a suit in bad weather can be a pain.

I'm thinking: shoes, slacks, shirt and jumper. Like this.

    Thoughts? :(

Jumper for a job interview? NOOOO!!!!!

if the job is an in office, then wear a suit. Simples.

I don't think you can ever be too smart! Wear the suit, definitely no jumpers.

Wear a suit - if its very casual just pop the jacket off. You wouldn't look overdressed in a shirt and tie, even if the full suit is too much

Yeah, if you're ever in doubt then a suit is the way to go. You cannot make a bad impression by being overdressed but you can by being underdressed.

If you want to make a good first impression then a suit is the way to go every time for the first interview. If it's a more relaxed work environment and there's going to be a second or third interview they'll generally tell you there's no need to wear a full suit if you don't want to.

Don't make the mistake of going for the more casual look when everyone else is suited or they might think you aren't serious about the role.
Plus, there'll likely be rain on the day and a suit in bad weather can be a pain.

And definitely don't let the weather dictate what you wear. If it's raining get a taxi and get to the interview at least 15 - 20 mins before hand so you can freshen up in the bathroom and scope out how the other employees interact around the building. It'll give you a rough idea of the general work environment.

But the jumper and tie will be ideal once you have the job... I've worked in offices for years and such an outfit is a good non-suit alternative

Suit, always go overdressed for an interview, nothing worse than arriving and seeing other interviewees dressed up and you not, puts you under pressure straight away.

If you feel good and feel confident it will come across that way and hopefully in a good way :pac:.

    Best of luck.

Good rule of thumb is it's better to overdress for an interview than underdress. Suit up!

You can never be over-dressed for an interview. Definitely wear the suit.
