Before xmas I got a letter reminding me that I am due to pay €90 before Jan 7th. I logged in using the username and password - butit says I have no liabilities for this year.

This is on the main page:

I know I paid something ages ago but not sure if it was more than a year ago. Also it says I, it was only €45 though - the letter says €90.

When I click on View Payment History it says this:

So it says I have no liabilities, but the €45 is in red.

I just want to make sure the website is not wrong and I get penalised! I;ve tried to call but cannot get through!

    Has anyone else had this?

from looking at the screen shots you have attached you still have an outstanding liability for 2015. This is the payment that is to be made and was looked for in the letter you received before christmas!
    Hope this helps

Thanks, it seems this way but there is no way to actually pay!
Is there another number as the number on the letter and website wont even connect!

From looking at the top part where it says "Your LPT charge= €45", the only year that corresponds to is 2013 so it could be you're on the page for 2013, try moving forward to the 2015 page, or else click into "view transactions" next to the bit with €90 highlighted in red for 2015.

Also, you pay LPT ahead of time rather than behind like other taxes, so it would be the 2015 payment they are looking for now.

Thanks so much - you were right. For some reason when you log in it defaults to 2013 and I had to change to 2015 in a box I had not seen. Got it sorted - cheers

    Hi.

Just another question re the LPT. We purchased our house in mid-November 2014 - from reading the below from revenue's website, it seems that since we bought the house after November 1st 2014, we are not liable for any payment in 2015 - is that correct?

Also, as part of the sale of the house we paid the balance of the LPT for 2014 from mid-November - are we entitled to seek a refund of this as we don't appear to be liable for it?

Here is the text from Revenue:

Who is liable to pay LPT for 2015?
"If you are the liable person for the residential property on 1 November 2014 you have to pay LPT for 2015. If you (as an owner) sell your residential property after 1 November 2014 you will be liable to pay LPT on the property for 2015, even if it is sold before the end of 2014."

It seems clear to me, but I'd like other people's opinions before I proceed any further...

    Thanks

Whoever sold you the property is still liable for this year

Yes that is correct under Legislation Revenue can go after the previous owner. Always get clearance on LPT when buying a property and the Liability date for each year is November 1st.

Never pay LPT if your not the liable owner on the above date.

    Just to add my experience...

I am selling my house this month and I had to pay LPT for the rest of 2015 before they would give me clearance which my solicitor has asked for before he will go any further.

Luckily they accepted that the rise in the price of my house ( went up by two brackets from what I declared in 2013, from 5 to 7) was reasonable given prices in my area so at least I didn't have to pay any extra.

    New-but-related question:
If I buy a house do I have to register with Revenue for the LPT or do they get this info when the stamp duty is paid?

Just looking into this myself as a new property owner and I "think" you have to register yourself here to be mailed a property ID and PIN:

Went online there but couldn't get it to work. Rang Revenue, turns out the property is linked to my partner's PPS so a letter will now be issued with a PIN etc and we can do it all online from there.
