Getting out of a rut

Hi I posted this in the long term illness discussion but feel I might get help here too. After years of feeling stressed/depressed I've decided to see a therapist. What is the best way of going about this. I had gone to my doctor before and he just prescribed antidepressants, I kind of felt these were not for me and I lost confidence in going to my doctor. Is the best way forward to ask a doctor straight out to refer me to a therapist?

ask your doctor straight out for a referral.
it's good that you want to do something positive about this and asking your gp for a recommendation is a great first step.

    the very best of luck

The best thing I did last year when I needed a bit of extra help was visit

    https://www.turn2me.org/

I qualified for a free 8 session counselling session called Engage through this site. There are more details in this Boards Information thread.
