If you know what a chromebook is, it is essentially just a desktop version. Simply, it is chrome browser disguised as an operating system.

    Nice win BTW

Can non-chrome apps be ran on it?

No, no things you would normally install on windows/mac. No MS office, photoshop etc. You can install some apps on chrome browser, but a lot of them are just a webpage in disguise. It is more limited than windows but that suits a lot of people. Open chrome browser and have a look at the apps/extensions you can iinstall. Some android apps are being converted for use in chrome browser, but is a slow process.

Edit: personally I would sell it

Install openelec on it, sit it under your tv and be happy.

Plex would involve far less messing around and be a faster simpler set up to achieve pretty much the same thing I'd say.

Not sure if the client version for this is free or not though.
