Friend of mine has not declared his Nissan patrol off road, nor has he been using it due to the head gasket going, it's been sat up about 16mths till last week when he did the head gasket. Question is can he get around the back tax owed by selling it to me for a month and then buying it back or is that loophole closed these days?

    You can still do that.
