    Hi all,

I have a viewing booked for an apartment later, I will be claiming rent allowance and not to sure if it is single or shared. It is advertised as a Studio apartment but the kitchen is shared with the rest of the house?

Maybe if I bought my own cooker/microwave and installed it in the room would that help to classify as single accommodation?

    Here is the link.

    Thanks

You won't get rent allowance for that property ,
Rent advertised is 600 pm the maximum rent supplement you can get as a single person is
€520 pm minus your weekly minimum contribution of €30 pw so you would only get 400 pm in rent supplement

Well then why is the landlord accepting rent allowance? Could I not pay the extra €20 myself?

You can't be paying more than the maximum limit to receive rent supplement.
