Facebook group vs Facebook page for meet ups?

I have set up a Facebook page for a monthly / biweekly meet up group. However I cannot invite the people who liked the page (I have no insight into who they are). Would it be better to change to a Facebook group? What would be the benefits? ... is it worth doing as I will need to get my 'likes' to move to the group (they have to invite themselves).
    Thanks

Each month, you can switch to acting as the page and create an Event. Then you use the Page's feed to promote the event, and FB automagically shows it to the people without you knowing who they are.

Yes, you don't see the individuals who are Fans (are they still called that) of the page. And so you cannot control FB actually shows the Event-notification to. But you do (once the page has enough Likes) get statistics about the number of people who have seen the invitation. And my experience is that FB does show it to most of the "likers" who are still using FB, and it also shows it to other friends of those likers - so it may be seen by far more people than have liked the Page..

If you use a Group, then the members can all see who the other members are. This can discourage some people from joining. And I'm not sure how Events work for Groups.

thanks, sounds like a good reason to stick to the page.
Not sure what you mean / or how to act as a page each month. is there a setting / limit on creating events?

Sorry, that sentence implied more than I meant it to.

Whenever you want to do something "as the page" then just switch to the Page (or use Pages Manager on mobile). There are no limits that I know of to how frequently pages can do things.
