    Hey guys.

I want to put together a home desktop for my folks. Budget is €400 for the core components CPU, MOBO, RAM, HDD, Case and PSU.

    1. What is your budget? €400

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Home pc, MS office, photo storage, browsing, media playback

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

    5. Do you need a monitor? No

5a. If yes, what size do you need. N/A

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? N/A

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? No

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? No need

    8. How can you pay? Debit/Credit Card

    9. When are you purchasing? Today/Tomorrow

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Nope

This is what I have come up with:

    PCPartPicker part list: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/zmqGt6
    Price breakdown by merchant: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/zmqGt6/by_merchant/

    CPU: Intel Core i3-4130 3.4GHz Dual-Core Processor (£78.79 @ Aria PC)
    Motherboard: ASRock H87M Pro4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£60.46 @ Amazon UK)
    Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£30.96 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£40.39 @ Aria PC)
Case: NZXT Source 210 Elite (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case (£35.05 @ Scan.co.uk)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 430W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply (£45.13 @ Amazon UK)
    Total: £290.78

€369 + what ever shipping will be to Ireland, usually not that bad with Amazon etc.

Anyway I was thinking the only thing I would possibly upgrade in the future would be the RAM to 8GB.

    Any thoughts?

    SSD SSD SSD SSD SSD...

If you want to keep the mass storage, at least get a 120GB one in there, if not, just scrap the 1TB drive and stick a 256 in.

Also, buy from the same place, no point buying from several different places.

Also get a VS350 power supply, only about €30 and still more than enough.

Processor wise for those uses something like a €50 G3220 is still more than enough, and you can definitely get a much cheaper motherboard than that. My parents are still using a Core 2 from 2007 for those same uses and it's perfect.

Can't agree enough with the SSD suggestion. If they don't need a 1TB drive, I'd even go with a 256GB SSD.

I could go for the G3258 and a cheaper Z87 MOBO and squeeze in an SSD.

Or just get the asrock G3258 anniversary MOBO so I could OC it in the future for them.... Reduces privce by £20 so i could squeeze an SSD

Twice the RAM and SSD space if you buy from one place like Terror suggested:

(Prices from Hardwareversand.de after Geizhals.de discount)
