    Hi All,

I was bridesmaid for a friend just before Christmas and I've yet to get them a gift.
The wedding was abroad and all expenses, such as flights, accomadation were borne by me, including general day to day costs.
I was told not to get a gift, however I'm not comfortable with that and would like to get them something. I was thinking of spending about €100. My biggest problem with deciding on a gift is the fact that they bought a house about 5 years ago and don't need anything for it. A gift voucher/cash seems too impersonal.

    I'd really appreciate any suggestions

Do they like wine? A trip to the local wine-shop can usually come up with something special for a wedding present.

As it was a christmas wedding... maybe some nice christmas tree decorations for them to use every year along with the bottle of wine?

Someone got us these when we got married:

They are a little bit wacky, but we've been putting them on our tree every year and they remind us of the person who gave them to us, and our wedding. We added some small fairies when our children were born. The kids love them.

Thanks Pwurple, they are loaded down with wine so that's not really an option.
I like the decorations, might look inot them

What about a couple of nice woollen blankets/ w throws? Avoca do nice ones, or kerry woollen mills?

I think an expensive (€80-€100) picture frame is a lovely gift - it means the couple can pick a nice wedding photo to put in it & its very personal :) I got two beautiful frames as gifts and love them! :)

My sister/ bridesmaid made this amazing wine hamper for me. It was really thoughful. It basically had a wine for every occasion post wedding - our first fight, first Christmas (we still have to drink that...ooops), first Valentine's, first baby, first anniversary, etc. She presented it in a lovely hamper and it had little notes with rhymes on them. Really cute and personal. it brought a tear to my eye!

That's a super idea and very thoughtful! That would work with other things too if they've loads of wine. Storing that idea away for future weddings/ new babies etc :)

Maybe pick out a nice frame and get pics of ye framed in it for them. You can get those lovely ones from Dunnes.. Just fill it with memories.. Or put pictures you have of the two them that they might not have in it..

Or day out together or something.. Something they have to do together, it is amazing sometimes people just get caught up in things and even though they live together they don't get a chance to relax together..So lets say if they have kids or animals you can say well look here is this paid for, go off and enjoy and ill work with the rest.

Or you could have someone call to them with their favourite dinner etc..Tell them they are going on date night and have it all ready for them

    Thanks for all your suggestions,

The idea of giving a hamper of wine for future special occasions is really lovely and something I might do for another couple but this couple have expressly stated that they don't want wine/alcohol.

I think I'm going to go with getting them a voucher for a very nice restaurant/spa, something they can enjoy together. I might also get a small personalised gift as well.

You can't really go wrong with that!

    They would love that.
And personalized gift is the best.
