    TES is your friend.

How long do you have to teach them? Make it hands on, give them physical shapes, get them active - go around the class looking for different shapes, there's probably a Youtube song

I don't teach primary, only secondary but I wouldn't say that know much

    Nets! (i.e. the shape unfolded)...

Draw 6 squares (t shape).. get em to cut it out an make a cube.

Unfold pyramid and copy onto sheet then someone else can cut it out.

Dice! predict what the number is on the other side if the dots have to sum to 7 ...

edit: sorry im secondary so havn't a clue what they should know already.

In third they should be familiar with many 3 d shapes, they should also know most of the 2 d shapes. You could do an "I Spy" -show them an example of say a square and then see how many they can see in the room Then move on to the cube and do the same.

You could give them nets of the 3 d-shapes to make too, or even use clay/marla/playdough.

    Nets here: http://www.senteacher.org/worksheet/12/NetsPolyhedra.html

Liquorice All-Sorts are good for cylinders and cuboids!!

Have a wander about on Pinterest for art ideas too.
