I've been an Irish PAYE employee in the IT sector all my life, but I've been headhunted for an position with an English company. The job would allow me to work from home 3-4 days a week and fly over and back as needed (yay for Ryanair!). I may also be asked to sit on the board. They'll handle tax whatever way I want (as long as it isn't major hassle), so should I be looking at PAYE, sole trader status or registering a limited company, and in which jurisdiction? From basic research I'd guess Irish PAYE is the simplest way, but is that an option if I ended up as a company director? This is in the early stages so I haven't sought out an accountant Just yet. I'm just looking for a few pointers so I don't come off as a total eejit when I do sit down with one.

Looks like you have a pretty good handle on the main significant issues - cross-border situation, company directorship, presence in both countries etc. There are firms that specialise in advising people in your situation and you probably need to talk to them asap so as to shape your input into your next conversations with the UK company.

If you want you can PM me and I can give you some contact details.
