Light staying on the electric odometer on 03 focus

Does anyone know what causes the light to stay on the where the mileage is shown after the car is turned off? I've noticed it a few times now? No other light is on only the green light on the odometer. Does this happen to a lot of focuses?

Lock the car and see does it go out after about half an hour.

dampness ? are the windows fogged up in the morning ?

left a window open in the rain ?

the back of the clocks can get a bit corroded - drives them bananas

    http://www.kcsystems.ie fix them

the earth wires near the battery - ( brown i think ) - they'll be bolted to the car can corrode and cause weirdness

    the wires on the alternator

there are wires inside a little rubber tube between the car and the hatchback door - can break and cause chaos

yeah the windows are fogged up sometimes! is it a pricey job to fix or is something simple?

It (can) be simple enough if its that - sorted it before for someone

lift the carpet and see how soaked it is - if its bad take the carpet out and dry it

if its not too bad stick a dehumidifier in the car

take out the clocks ( easy enough - just be delicate )

clean up the back of them & put them back in

I had a leak near the windscreen a couple of months back where the passenger side got wet, it's still not 100% dry after using a dehumidifier and kept it in the garage with a heater. I'll get someone to check out the clocks! Thanks for you help

There is an electrical box down the passenger side on those focuses. It could be corroded from the leak.

I've seen some which were recently parked with the speedo lit up and the lights were not on. I was thinking it was time delayed and a feature that would go off shortly afterwards?

I seem to remember it stayed on on my '04 C-Max too. I got the impression it was designed like that.

The connect is the same, the light stays on for ages if not permanently. Unless you're getting flat battery issues I wouldn't bother about it.
